Rob Kessler - Stable (1991)
Olympia Hall, Kensington Art London 91 - 3000 Square Feet

Rob Kesseler showed “Stable” his ironic commentary on the marketing of art and artists, at the Art/London '90 exhibition, held in the National Hall of Olympia.

It consisted of three empty horseboxes made from pressboard. The first ('Clear Impression) had an orange rubber carpet underlay floor. on which sat four dark satin pillows displaying glass horseshoes. The floor of the central container ('Base Metal') was made from straw compressed by a steel rectangle with four horseshoe cutouts. On the green baize felt floor of the third box ('Fool's Gold') stood four mounds of coal on which were displayed four gilt horseshoes.
