Mark Povell, Supply and Demand, 2001 British artist Mark Povell’s Supply and Demand project was in a way, an economic experiment. He wrote a computer programme that made templates for a series of simple three-dimensional objects that were relatively easy to assemble. Each visitor could customise or alter the design and MOI promised that their staff would make these versions for the visitors if they signed a contract to provide an ‘interpretation' in exchange for the object. Whatever they deemed to be the value of the work was acceptable to Povell.
