The Museum of Contemporary Arts (MOCA London) presented an exhibition in filmic form by the photographic duo Jonathan Anderson & Edwin Low at the Greenwich Picture House (with support from Arts Alliance Media) in tandem with an exhibition of their work at Hamilton's gallery, and publication. Manga Dreams is a collaborative project between the subjects and photographers, where numerous layers of interpretations, translations, and exchanges, took place between the photographers and the Manga kids they photographed. These kids have tailored their looks to that of Manga, tamed hair and costume, whilst performing for the photographers who have also provided costumes, grooming and added backgrounds. Manga means 'cartoon' and within the context of this exhibition connects street youth and visual cyber culture with contemporary art.. The artists have only digitally altered the eyes of their subjects, the hair makeup and dress are real, merging real kids into cartoon characters. Their short film was shown before the Japanese film, NORWEGIAN WOOD, based on Haruki Murakami's best-seller at the following Picture Houses across the country.
