I can hear birds singing in the heart of town
Madame Magnolia is wearing her floral gown
Stop
Like the hands on Big Ben’s clock
Stop
We’re playing a Global game of postman’s knock


I knock the door and then run away
You greet your friend on the street but keep them at bay


Stop 
Breathe in deep but you can’t sleep
Still in shock but you can’t weep


Stop
Paying taxes and rent
Stop 
The commuter trains from Kent


Hold your breathe - stand still
Watch the world from your windowsill


Stop
Flying planes and let the sky breathe
Please shield your mouth if you have to sneeze

Sliding away from conversations

Thinking you’re different from other nations
